Space invaders walk to school in Middlesbrough
YOUNG astronauts and small space invaders took to the streets of Middlesbrough to show walking to school is not a far out idea.
Pupils from St Thomas More RC Primary School donned fancy dress to highlight the walk-to- school message.
The children, their parents and teachers walked a 10-minute route from Easterside and Beechwood Social Club on Broadwell Road to the school on Erith Grove.
They were led by Sarah Fay, Middlesbrough Council’s sustainable travel officer, who was dressed as an astronaut.
Pupils at Lingfield Primary School in Marton staged a similar event. The events were organised as part of Middlesbrough’s £9m Healthy Town programme.
The two schools are among those hit by congestion outside their gates because of parents parking inappropriately.
